If you're trying to patch something to make it better, you still have to have a vision of what better means. But yes, not exactly a quick paragraph or two kind of post ;)emilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14286342322009990841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4672498019390682523.post-69166240795664913762008-08-21T13:53:00.000-07:002008-08-21T13:53:00.000-07:00Oh, a challenge. That is a pretty hairy request - its always easier to think up ways to patch an existing, albeit flawed, system than to design a system correctly from the ground up. Also, incremental patches have the potential to actually make it in the real world, while a new IP system would most likely be DOA.

Still, might be interesting to try to design one. Not sure thats the sort of thing that one can really do in a blog however, might actually require a full length article. Guess i will put it on the list. ;-)Felixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07873291454625462680noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4672498019390682523.post-28116171768054217202008-08-12T15:40:00.000-07:002008-08-12T15:40:00.000-07:00So, while *I* think I know what you mean when you ...So, while *I* think I know what you mean when you say that the current system is broken, and I'm pretty sure *you* think you know what you mean, I think you should do a post to spell out what the perfect "IP" system would look like. From both a goals and implementation standpoint. Here you have given a few examples of implementation details, but left the goals largely implicit in those details.

For example, why are "patent troll's" as you define them (negative framing if anything ever was) abusing the system rather than using it as intended?

-your friendly devil's advocateemilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14286342322009990841noreply@blogger.com
